WoodGuard Interior Finish (ITF) - Protect and preserve the natural beauty of your interior wood with water-based Wood Guard ITF® (Interior Transparent Finish). Developed expressly for log and timber-framed homes, Wood Guard ITF® helps highlight the wood grain on interior walls and trim. It contains a high-density, acrylic latex blended with a special wax to provide a tough, transparent and breathable finish. Wood Guard ITF® also offers easy cleanup, and dries rapidly for greater flexibility. Plus it meets VOC standards in all 50 states.

Features and Benefits:
• Ideal for all interior wood surfaces including log walls, paneling, trim and unpainted doors & cabinets (not recommended for floors).
• Protects and highlights wood grain while sealing out dust, dirt and household odors.
• Water-based for easy cleanup; quick-drying for application flexibility.
• Provides water-repellent finish with low-luster satin sheen.
• Washable, non-yellowing transparent film.
• Contains no ammonia or harsh odors.
• Non-flammable and VOC-compliant in all 50 states.

Coverage Rate:
• Expect approximately 500 square feet per gallon for smooth wood and 250 square feet per gallon for rough wood on the first coat.
• The second coat will cover a greater surface area than the first. Do not over apply.
• Wait 1 hour (or until dry to the touch) and gently sand with a 180-grit sandpaper before applying the second coat.
• Two coats are generally sufficient.
• Remove all sawdust before applying additional coats. Do not use steel wool.

Application Methods:
• Brush.
• Roller.
• Sprayer.
Caution: When spraying pigmented or pre-tinted Woodguard ITF, you will need to back brush or roll the sprayed surfaces immediately to maintain a sheer, even, translucent appearance.
• Because Woodguard ITF dries very quickly, the spray application option may be a two-person job, one with the sprayer, one with a brush or low nap roller.

Surface Preparation:
• Lacquer, shellac, wax, grease, dirt, mold and old finishes should be removed before application.
• Sand clean, dry wood with an 80 to 120-grain sand paper to obtain a uniform appearance.
• Ensure that the wood surface is thoroughly dry before application (less than 18% moisture content).
• Remove all surface dust with a damp rag.
• Stir well before and occasionally during use. For best results, do not apply below 50°F.
• Apply a thin coat in the direction of the grain, working the material into the fibers of the wood. Expect coverage of approximately 500 square feet to the gallon for smooth wood;  250 square feet per gallon for rough wood on the first coat. The second coat will cover a greater surface area than the first.
• Maintain a wet edge.
• Brush, roll or spray application is suitable.
• Promptly clean all tools, rags, etc. with warm, soapy water.
• Wait at least one hour or until dry to the touch before very gently sanding with a 180-grain sandpaper. Remove all superficial dust with a damp rag before applying a second coat.  Two coats are sufficient. Do not use steel wool.
• ITF Clear is tintable with Universal pigments. Consult your dealer for assistance in pigmenting this product to a light, semi-transparent stain only. Solid colors cannot be achieved.
• When pigmented, this product can be used as a wiping stain.

Surface Preparation:
• Remove all hardware (or tape over if not possible).
• Fill cracks and holes with a quality, acrylic, tinted wood filler.
• Lightly sand all surfaces with an 80-120 grit sand paper to achieve a smooth finish. This may require a second sanding with a 180-grit sandpaper to achieve the desired smooth surface.
