Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish
Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish (TB5284) for wood floors is a clear, tung oil based penetrating sealer and finish all in one. The Original Sealer & Finish is Waterlox's best selling product. Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish can be used as an interior sealer and/or as a semi-gloss finish.
Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish Product Details
• Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish is designed as the sealer/primer and top coat portion of our finishing system which performs best over bare wood.
• Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish can be used on interior wood surfaces including floors, windows, doors, cabinetry, woodwork, tables, furniture, bar tops, picture frames, fly fishing rods, gun stocks, and various woodworking projects.
• Applies easily with a lambswool applicator (floors), China bristle brush, cloth or spray. Sanding is not necessary between coats for adhesion purposes.
• When finished, renders a 75° gloss level (fades to a 50° – 55° gloss level in 4-6 months).
Waterlox Original Sealer Finish Stain Sample Pouches
• We highly recommend that you try a sample can of any new stain color you are considering. The finished color of translucent stains can vary substantially based on species, texture, porosity of wood, and application technique. Sampling on your own wood is inexpensive and the best way to make sure you get the color you want for your home.
Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish Application Instructions
• Coverage: For hardwood species we recommend 3 coats of Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish. For softwood species such as pine, fir or cherry, apply 4 coats of the Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish.
• For best results, apply all coats liberally at approximately 500 square feet per gallon per coat. No thinning necessary.
• Apply all intended coats to a small, inconspicuous area or a scrap piece of wood from the project and allow to dry prior to applying to the entire surface. Final color effect is always influenced by the grain, texture, porosity, species of wood, and by method of application.
• Clean application tools immediately with mineral spirits or turpentine.
• Exceptional adhesion to oily, dense, exotic woods like teak, rosewood (other than Cocobolo), and Ipe.
• Use on porous interior surfaces such as slate, brick, stone, tile, linoleum or cement to seal and prevent chalking and dusting*.
• For exterior projects as a sealer only, use 1-2 coats to prime, followed by 2 coats of Marine Finish.
• Same product as Waterlox Original Marine Sealer.
• *As with all projects, apply to a small test area to be sure that the final result is as expected. For slate, brick, stone and concrete, you may need only one coat to penetrate and seal.
Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish Use Restrictions

Excellent Service! Great Product
We've used this product in the past & it turns out its very difficult to find now & expensive - selling in quart size only in our area. Found the gallon size at Twin Creeks Log Home Supply. 20 Gallons shipped via UPS & received within 2 days! Excellent service. Highly recommend this product & Company.

Great product
So far it has worked great. And it makes the wood grain really pop.

Awesome
I refinished my Eastern Red Cedar Kitchen Counter Tops with the Original. They are just BEAUTIFUL ! I applied 4 thick coats, water sanded lightly between coats. My counter tops look like glass ! I absolutely love Waterlox products.

Waterlox
Old time product. Still a great product. Have used it on our floors for 40 years.

Waterlox rocks!
The absolute best wood finish for durability that there is bar none. It was the only wood finish used by my dad and also my grandpa who was a builder back when one man did it all footer to chimney with hand tools. Dad was born in 1911 just for perspective and one house grandpa built is mine now and the woodwork is still impeccable.

Waterlox
I have not used it yet but will be in the next couple of days

Great product
A little bit of a learning curve, very nice results though.

Waterlox
I have been using Waterlox for more than 30 years. My mother was also a great fan. I never had a negative experience with it

Counter top finish
Easy to apply. Goes on with Great coverage. Three coats and a light sand with 320 3m sandpaper Last coat looks great. The longer it dries the better it looks.
Waterlox Newbie
While it's expensive, it's on par with all the other finishing options that don't have as many positive benefits. Twin Creeks had the best pricing at the time of my purchase and their web site provides good information and details about the product so I chose to use them. While I know I need 12 gallons of this liquid gold, I only purchased four gallons this time to try it out in the back rooms before I commit to applying it to the main living areas. I'll follow up with another review when I get to that point.
Great product
This is the first time I purchased through twincreeksloghomes.com and found the cost for a gallon very reasonable when compared to buying quarts. In fact the cost for the gallon I purchased was less than the price I previously paid for 2 quarts from another vendor. Shipping charge was reasonable and arrived in three working days. I will be sure to look at your site more often.
Product Questions

How often do you normally have to recoat Waterlox?
Re-coating will depend on wear and type of use. One of the many benefits to using Waterlox is that, if you feel you need a re-coat, you can clean the floor with a mix of TSP (trisodium phosphate) and water, perform a clear water rinse, let it dry completely, and reapply more of the Waterlox to restore its original sheen.

Is this product clear or does it add color to the wood? I plan on using this over sweet gum and I would like to keep the color character of the wood. How does this product hold up to dog traffic? We have two labs that love to run.
Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish is a tung oil based product which will amber the wood slightly. It is a crystal clear finish which will allow the natural grain of your sweet gum to show through. Also, if scratches do occur from your dog's nails, you can put a small amount of Waterlox onto a piece of cheesecloth and easily cover them without leaving a shiny spot.
