Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish
Details
Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish (TB5284) is a clear, all-in-one sealer and finish that penetrates wood to protect and enhance its natural beauty. The tung oil-based formula is designed for use on interior wood surfaces including floors, windows, doors, furniture, cabinetry, and other woodworking projects. Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish is easy to apply, easy to maintain, and leaves a medium, semi-gloss sheen.
Features and Benefits:
• Creates protective barrier that preserves durability
• Enhances natural character and beauty of the wood
• Water-resistant and non-toxic (when fully dried/cured)
• Medium, Semi-Gloss sheen
• 90% of the resin portion of the formula is from renewable, natural resources
Product Details, Uses, & Tips:
• Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish is designed as the sealer/primer and top coat portion of our finishing system, which performs best over bare wood.
• It can be used on interior wood surfaces including floors, windows, doors, cabinetry, woodwork, tables, furniture, bar tops, picture frames, fly fishing rods, gun stocks, and various woodworking projects.
• Works well on porous interior surfaces, including stone, brick, slate, tile, and cement.
• Applies easily with a lambswool applicator (floors), China bristle brush, cloth, or spray. Sanding is not necessary between coats for adhesion purposes.
• When finished, it renders a 75° gloss level (fades to a 50°–55° gloss level in 4-6 months).
• Allow at least 24 hours of drying time between coats. Use proper ventilation and air circulation.
Sample Bottles:
• We highly recommend that you try a sample bottle of any new stain you are considering. The finished color of stains can vary substantially based on species, texture, porosity of wood, and application technique. Sampling on your own wood is inexpensive and is the best way to make sure you get the finish you want for your home.

Product Questions
Product Questions
-
How often do you normally have to recoat Waterlox?
Re-coating will depend on wear and type of use. One of the many benefits to using Waterlox is that, if you feel you need a re-coat, you can clean the floor with a mix of TSP (trisodium phosphate) and water, perform a clear water rinse, let it dry completely, and reapply more of the Waterlox to restore its original sheen.

Is this product clear or does it add color to the wood? I plan on using this over sweet gum and I would like to keep the color character of the wood. How does this product hold up to dog traffic? We have two labs that love to run.
Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish is a tung oil based product which will amber the wood slightly. It is a crystal clear finish which will allow the natural grain of your sweet gum to show through. Also, if scratches do occur from your dog's nails, you can put a small amount of Waterlox onto a piece of cheesecloth and easily cover them without leaving a shiny spot.

Can Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish be used to finish my kitchen butcher block?
Yes. Waterlox Original Sealer Finish can be used to coat your butcher block.
For hardwood species we recommend 3 coats of Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish and for softwood species such as pine, fir or cherry, apply 4 coats of the Waterlox Original Sealer & Finish.
For best results, apply all coats liberally at approximately 500 square feet per gallon per coat.

Stain Type Refers to how this stain was designed to work. Coatings form a flexible solid barrier on the outside of the surface to protect from the outside-in. Deep penetrating oils normally do not form a surface barrier and protect from the inside-out.
