Expert Clean & Bright Wood Stripper Instructions

Mixing

  • Always wear heavy-duty rubber gloves, NIOSH-approved respirator, and full PPE when working with wood stripper or any other Expert Clean & Bright product.
  • Wood strippers can cause chemical burns if in contact with skin, eyes, or lungs.
  • Mix 4 oz – 8 oz of wood stripper with each gallon of cold water, stirring until powder is dissolved.
  • To avoid clogging the sprayer, mix in a separate 5 gallon pail before transferring it into a pump sprayer.
  • Use stripper solution within 6 hours of mixing.
  • Wood stripper solution is red.

Application

  • Wet surface with water before applying stripper solution using a sprayer, brush, or car wash brush, working on small areas of 100-200 square feet.
  • If applying on vertical surfaces with a sprayer, work on small areas at a time, starting from the bottom and working upward.
  • If needed, scrub thoroughly with a hard, short-bristled broom or brush.
  • Keep the area wet using additional solution or mist from a water hose.
  • Allow stripper to sit for approximately 5-45 minutes or until the desired results are achieved.

Rinse

  • To clean without damaging the wood, use water from a hose or pressure washer set at the lowest pressure.
  • For extreme build-up, use a power washer or a hard bristled brush.
  • If using a power washer, use the lowest pressure setting to achieve the desired result.  Care should be taken to not damage the wood.
  • Move power washer in a pendulum motion the full length of each board.
  • Do not start and stop, as scarring or gouging of wood can occur.

Neutralize

  • Immediately neutralize wood using Expert Clean & Bright Wood Brightener.
  • Let wood brightener sit for 5-15 minutes, ensuring the entire surface has been properly neutralized and rinsed thoroughly.

Important

  • After wood brightener is applied, rinse wood’s entire surface for 10-15 minutes.
  • Rinse all nearby surfaces, including siding, windows, and foliage.
  • Allow wood surfaces to dry 48-72 hours (or longer) before applying Expert Stain & Seal wood stains.

Clean-Up

  • Clean tools and equipment immediately after each use with soap and water.
