Perma Chink Lifeline Advance works just like the clear-coat on your car to protect the color coat underneath. It extends the life of the finish system while adding depth and highlights to the appearance. It makes your exterior walls easier to keep clean.

Lifeline Advance has the right permeability to keep the film breathable while repelling liquid water.

Lifeline Advance is the second component in Perma-Chink's exterior wall finish system that includes a limited warranty when used with Lifeline Ultra-2 or Lifeline Ultra-7.

Perma Chink Lifeline Advance Features & Benefits:
• Satin or Gloss finish.
• Simplifies and reduces maintenance of your exterior finish.
• Significantly extends the life of the finish system.
• Adds depth and luster to appearance.
• Extremely high coverage.
• Breathable to allow logs to dry out.
• Environmentally friendly.
• Only for use over Lifeline Ultra-2, Lifeline Ultra-7, Lifeline Exterior or Lifeline Accents.

Perma Chink Lifeline Advance Special Note:
• DO NOT APPLY TO BARE WOOD. Lifeline Advance Gloss or Satin Clear Topcoat is designed to go over all Lifeline exterior finishes. However over white pigmented stains we recommend using only Advance Satin, not Gloss. In addition to enhancing the beauty of the finish, its advanced formulation imparts an extra measure of water repellency and ultraviolet (UV) resistance along with mold and mildew protection to extend the life of your stain. Since any Lifeline exterior finish can be applied over an existing coat of Lifeline Advance Gloss or Satin, future maintenance will be simple and easy to perform.

Lifeline Advance Top Coat Sheen Levels

Perma-Chink Lifeline Advance Stain Sample Cans
• We highly recommend that you try a sample can of any new stain color you are considering. The finished color of translucent stains can vary substantially based on species, texture, porosity of wood, and application technique. Sampling on your own wood is inexpensive and the best way to make sure you get the color you want for your home.

Perma Chink Lifeline Advance Coverage Rate:
• Coverage is approximately 500 - 700 square feet per gallon on rough surfaces.
• Coverage is approximately 600 - 800 square feet per gallon on smooth surfaces.

Perma Chink Lifeline Advance Preparation Information:
• All surfaces should be free of dirt, dust, mold and mildew. Use appropriate materials to clean and prepare surfaces.
• If more than a week has passed since the surface was stained, we recommend washing down the logs with an appropriate cleaning solution such as Log Wash, rinse well and allow to dry before applying Lifeline Advance.
• Do not use Lifeline Advance on surfaces that have been brushed or rubbed with steel wool. If you do, rust spots may appear under the finish.

Perma Chink Lifeline Advance Application Tips:
• Check over your existing finish to make sure it is in good condition. If necessary, apply a new coat of Lifeline stain or touch up those areas that show signs of wear or weathering.
• Lifeline Advance Gloss or Satin may be applied over existing stains, topcoats, caulks, chinking or other sealants.
• Do not use thinners.
• Stir thoroughly before and regularly during use.
• Lifeline Advance may be applied with a brush or airless sprayer.
• Do not apply to hot surfaces or in direct sunlight.
• Do not apply when the surface temperature is below 40° F or above 90° F.
• Back brushing is required to avoid drips and runs and to achieve optimum performance.
• Perma-Chink recommends that you make a test application on a small area to get a feel for the product before you start on an entire wall. Apply no more than two coats at a time.
• Dry and cure time will vary with the method of application, type of surface, age and texture of the wood. Typically Lifeline Advance will dry to the touch in 30 to 45 minutes but complete cure requires 72 hours.
• Lifeline Advance should always be applied in thin coats. Wait for the first coat to dry (at least two hours depending on temperature and humidity) before applying a second coat.
Always back brush to ensure even coverage and to avoid visible drips and runs.

Perma Chink Lifeline Advance Cleanup:
• Clean area and equipment immediately with warm, soapy water.
• For sprayers and other commercial equipment, follow the manufacturer's directions.
• For removing Lifeline Advance that has dried, soften with alcohol or mineral spirits and then clean with warm water.

Perma Chink Lifeline Advance Maintenance:
• Periodic cleaning with an appropriate cleaner such as Log Wash™ helps extend the life of the finish and accentuates the beauty of your home.
• Perma-Chink recommends that log walls be washed down at least twice a year.
• Wood checking, cracking and shrinkage may eventually expose unprotected wood.
• Apply periodic maintenance coats as needed paying special attention to the south and west sides of the home as they may have greater exposure to the elements.

Perma Chink Lifeline Advance Storage:
• Store Lifeline Advance out of direct sunlight and protect from freezing.
• Although Lifeline Advance is freeze-thaw stable, if the product is accidentally frozen, allow to thaw, mix well and check for suitability of use before applying.

Product Questions

  • I have some Perma Chink Lifeline Advance that I bought several years ago left over from my last application of Ultra 2. Will this still be good to use?

Perma Chink Lifeline Advance has a (3) year shelf life on unopened pails, so if you have less than a full pail left, I would suggest that you mix the finish very well with a paddle or drill stirrer and then test it on a inconspicuous area or on a separate piece of wood to make sure that it applies and dries correctly. If you have any doubts about the leftover Advance, I would recommend that you start again with fresh finish to be on the safe side.
